The Indigenous Tutoring and Mentoring Program (ITMP) is hosting its second annual tour of Simon Fraser University’s (SFU’s) Burnaby campus on May 17th, and we’re excited to be partnering with SFU's Faculty of Applied Sciences to make the event possible!
ITMP received interest in this event from schools in Squamish, and is proud to host a field trip for Squamish students and their teachers to showcase SFU and give students a chance to get to know SFU Burnaby campus. Students from grades 7 to 12 will have the opportunity to not only see what being an SFU student is like, but also meet SFU professors, staff, and organizations dedicated to supporting the needs of Indigenous students.
A full day of educational and cultural enrichment activities will showcase what SFU can offer. From cedar weaving to science experiments; from extra-curricular activities to visiting Indigenous student centers; participants will get hands-on and first-hand experience, and see some of the resources available for Indigenous students. The tour will also include featured presentations from Indigenous speakers, a drumming-in opening ceremony, and a catered lunch.
