Todd Nelson (He/Him)
ITMP Chief
Simon Fraser University
Todd, a member of the Spuzzum First Nation, has a personal interest in Indigenous communities. After observing educational inequities and their negative consequences at SFU, he started the Indigenous Tutoring & Mentoring Program with the goal of supporting Indigenous students in their education.
Todd has extensive experience teaching grade-school Math, English, Science and Social Studies. He has worked as a private tutor, an SFU peer tutor, swimming instructor and martial arts instructor for over five years. To increase his knowledge in teaching, he has completed a teaching certificate program at the University of British Columbia. Aside from school and tutoring, he has several hobbies he loves. He has been playing piano for over 10 years and hopes to one day pass this passion on to new learners. He is also a lifeguard and loves spending time at the pool.
