Indigenous artists, curators, and arts professionals in Ontario

First Nations, Inuit and Métis aspring and professional artists, arts/cultural professionals, cultural carriers, arts groups and organizations. Aspiring artists must work under the mentorship of a professional First Nations, Inuit or Métis artist. Organizations currently receiving core (operating) grants cannot apply. For-profit organizations must be in operation for at least 2 years before applying.

Open to Indigenous artists in British Columbia, including students. Supports immediate artistic needs, such as materials, equipment, or other resources to advance an artist’s practice.

Residents of Alberta

This funding is open to First Nations, Inuit and Métis individuals, artistic groups, collectives and organizations working in all disciplines. Aspiring artists must work under the mentorship of a professional First Nations, Inuit or Métis artist. Organizations currently receiving core (operating) grants cannot apply. For-profit organizations must be in operation for at least 2 years before applying.

In British Columbia (Administered by the First Peoples' Cultural Council - FPCC):
The program is suitable for learners aged 16 to 50 who have a specific plan to actively pass on the language to others. This includes potential language teachers, parents of young children, and others who are committed to using and teaching the language within their community. The program involves completing 300 hours of language immersion with a fluent speaker over approximately nine months​ (First Peoples Cultural Council)​.
In the Northwest Territories:
The program is open to any adult aged 18 and older. Priority is given to Indigenous applicants who live in the Northwest Territories, especially those who commit to sharing their language with others upon completing the program. This includes teachers, childcare workers, parents, or those actively engaged in language programming in their community. The participants must spend about 7-10 hours per week with their mentor, completing 200 hours of language immersion over approximately nine months​ (Government of Northwest Territories)​.

Your eligibility to apply to this component is determined by the validated profile created in the portal and a conversation you have had with a Program Officer. To be eligible, your organization must: Presently receive core (operating) support from this component. If your organization is presently receiving core support from another component, you must contact your program officer to confirm your eligibility before you apply. OR: Be an Indigenous publisher, Indigenous arts service organization or other Indigenous not-for-profit organization and meet all the following criteria: completed at least 2 consecutive years of artistic or cultural activity have received core funding from the Canada Council, 1 composite grant or Long-Term Projects grant, or 2 Canada Council project grants in the last 5 years. This excludes grants from the following components and programs: Small-Scale Activities, Travel, Representation and Promotion, Translation, Digital Strategy Fund, Creation Accelerator, Frankfurt initiatives, Digital Originals, Digital Now, Digital Generator, the COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund, Grow Stage 1 and the Canada-Korea Connections Fund. have a board of directors or an identified governance group with oversight and decision-making authority, made up of at least 60% First Nations, Inuit or Métis individuals
